Linda and Wally Warlyn founded Plum Catering in 1985. Wally began his culinary career with his studies at the Dumas Pere School of French Cooking in Glenview. After a several years very successful years in corporate event catering, primarily for ABC and NBC television stations, the Warlyn’s began serving local preschool programs. Their artistry and knowledge proved a very successful combination and Plum Catering flourished. Virtually overnight the word spread in the childcare industry and childcare catering became the focus of the business. Today, we prepare and deliver over 10,000 meals daily, exclusively for children, in the greater Chicagoland area. Our many delivery routes travel North to the Wisconsin border, West to Aurora and South to Lansing.

Plum Catering is a family owned-and-operated business and as a family, we are committed to excellence. The Warlyn’s pioneered school lunch programs serving whole grain breads, fresh raw vegetables, and fresh fruits with a parental eye for healthful nutrition.

The high-volume purchasing power at Plum gives us excellent food costs, which we pass along to our customers. Our meal prices are highly competitive without sacrificing food quality or taste. Ounce-for-ounce, you get the most nutrition for your dollar. Many school foodservice providers rely exclusively on lower cost, highly processed meats to meet budgetary constraints. Based on years of feedback we have become highly skilled in customizing our menus to the needs and preferences of those we serve. We offer vegetarian, pork/ beef restricted and Kosher style menus. Temporary or permanent menu substitutions will be provided for no additional charge in most cases.
